Topping E30 II + L30 II Review
Here we are examining the performance of the Topping E30 II and Topping L30 II stacks.
Topping E30 II & L30 II DAC & AMP Stack Performance
Equipment Used for Testing: Hifiman Edition XS, Vision Ears VE7, Audioquest Pearl USB A-to-B, Audioquest Golden Gate RCA Interconnect, MacOS 12.6
It’s no surprise that the E30 II and L30 II units from Topping work well together. Both devices are technically sound and produce neutral, detailed, and resolving audio. Their high-quality resolution and uncluttered sound design immediately wowed me. Regardless of the headphones I used from my collection, I was pleased with how it performed. Among my many impressions of the Hifiman Edition XS are its long-lasting highs, detailed mids free of saturation, and incredibly gratifying bass reproduction.
The Vision Ears VE7 are the most wonderful accessory to go with it. In my experience, the VE7 has one of the best resolutions and most revealing qualities of any camera I’ve used. Impressively, it manages to communicate the character of the IEMs to the audience by enhancing the technical aspects while retaining the distinctive sound.
This setup impressed me by providing a dark and serene backdrop when paired with both sensitive monitors and full-size headphones. Stack effectively communicates the sonic characteristics of the connected devices. You can listen to your in-ear monitors or high-performance headphones uncoloured and uncoloured by the Stack.
Compared to its asking price, the stack is a clear winner. Ignore the price tags; just combine it with your preferred gear, and you will be pleased with the outcome; I have no qualms recommending this combination to anyone who has headphones or IEMs.
Comparison
vs. Yulong DA-ART Aurora ($520 USD)
One of Yulong’s mid-range all-in-ones is the Aurora. The inclusion of a class A amplifier stage is the most noteworthy and significant aspect of Aurora. The DAC is a high-end chipset from ESS Technology, specifically the ES9068AS. The E30 II-style adapter powers the gadget, which also contains seven operational amplifier chips (OPA1612). The DAC’s fully balanced audio circuitry is comparable to the E30 II + L30 II combo, in my opinion. Keep in mind that the Topping stack is $220 less expensive.
To start, the two units are clearly distinct from one another in terms of their signature. The Aurora’s stage projection is more cubical in form and has a warmer tone than the Topping. Although the breadth is narrow, the depth is adequate. Topping shows them in a linear fashion, whereas the Aurora brings the vocal to the forefront and emphasises it. When compared to the Aurora, Topping’s stack performs better in terms of technical performance. Optimal imaging, clarity, resolution, and layering are all benefits of the E30 II + L30 II stack.
Last Words
Once again, Topping has outdone themselves, and we have two goods that more than justify their prices. The technological capabilities and acoustic performance of the goods are astounding. Every pair of headphones I tested, ranging from 8 ohms to 600 ohms, performed admirably.
As expected from Topping, the device’s build quality is excellent and feels sturdy. Delightful extras include support for RCA outputs, optical and coaxial inputs, and more.
The Topping II and the Topping L30 II are two of the best digital audio controllers and amplifiers that you should consider. Also, we felt it was only right to give the HFN recommended award to the E30 and L30 II stack. The best amplifier and finest digital audio converter listings now include these devices!
